This is how homeschoolers really are.

Colonial Williamsburg and Home Educator Week

You can't pass up Williamburg at $5 per ticket. We went last fall, and we will be going every time they offer this fantastic program. This time, the children were both dressed in colonial attire, provided by Ahno and her mad sewing skillz.

Here they are hanging out at the well like a bunch of colonial gossipers:

I have a bazillion more pictures, including a group that Sadie took herself, in my Flickr gallery, in the Colonial Williamsburg set.

For other colonial good times, check out Benny's Colonial Williamsburg Pictorial Tour Guide on his blog. Here's a sample:

Yes, he did move on from discussing the horse poop. But, it was a significant influence on his narrative.

I'm bummed we had to miss this year's homeschool week. Hopefully we'll make it in the Fall. Benny and Sadie look adorable.

Martina loves Benny but she just cannot understand why he thinks horse poop stinks...;-) Around here we are rather fond of the aroma! LOL
Great pics of the kids. We wanted to go but are strapped down by our current agenda.

Hehehe. I like it too. We had a big discussion about how it's not like dog poop or human poop because of what the horse eats and doesn't eat. They were just fascinated by it. Clearly, it played such a large part in Benny's memory of the event. Sadie's summary drawing was ENTIRELY horse poop.

I LOVE the colonial outfits! What's the source for the patterns?

My husband is from Norfolk VA and I am really looking forward to being able to time a visit back there with Homeschool week at CW.

Karen, if you did that, then we could meet up and wear mob caps and play tin whistles! How awesome would that be?

Source of the clothing is Ahno. She made them. Her blog is here:

Man, Thomas would LOVE to have a friend to go through CW with! I will totally let you know when we'll be in town again!

I'll go check out Ahno's blog for the patterns, thanks!

I live in Virginia, and I have yet to make it to this event. It looks like you all had a great time. What adorable kids! I love the narration, too. Horse poop is the kind of thing that would have caught my son's interest. :-)
